Every BGCW program is designed with one question in mind: what does this kid actually need? Some need a quiet place to finish homework. Others need a coach, a mentor, or just someone who shows up. Our programs span three core areas, and together they give young people — ages 4 to 18 — the tools to succeed in school, in their communities, and in life.
Where learning doesn't stop at 3pm
School lets out — but that doesn't mean learning has to. Our academic programs extend the school day in the most engaging way possible: real homework help, one-on-one mentoring, college prep, STEM exploration, and digital skills that matter in the modern workforce. We meet kids at their level and push them further.
We grow leaders here
Being a good student matters. So does being a good person. Our character and citizenship programs give young people the structure to lead, serve, and contribute — whether they're running a Torch Club meeting, competing in a Youth of the Year speech, or mentoring younger Club members as a Leader-in-Training.
Strong bodies. Clear minds. Healthy futures.
We believe health is about more than physical fitness — it's about nutrition, emotional well-being, and the confidence to make good choices. Our healthy lifestyle programs teach kids how to take care of themselves, on and off the field.
On-site at your school
Through our ASES (After School Education and Safety) program, BGCW operates directly on school campuses in partnership with Whittier City School District and East Whittier City School District. That means the Club experience comes to your child — no extra transportation required.
Literacy changes everything
Since 1962, the Whittier Area Literacy Council has helped children and adults learn to read, write, and speak English — completely free of charge. Now part of BGCW, WALC connects community members who can help with those who need it most.
