![]() Boys & Girls Club of Whittier Installs New President
And Honors National Medallion Recipients
On June 23, 2009, the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier installed their new Board of Directors Officers for the 2009-10 fiscal year. Mrs. Theola Kirschenbaum will serve as President; Carl Cheffers, Vice President; Larry Clanton, Treasurer; and Dean Crowley, Secretary.
The Club also welcomed and installed eight new members to their Board of Directors. Elaine Allen, licensed marriage and family therapist with the La Puente Valley mental Health Clinic; Dr. Ruben Armienta, DDS, is with Art of Designing Smiles; JoAnn Baker, event coordinator and real estate appraiser; Jeffrey Brown, owner of Murray Brown Jewelers; Shannon Gimbel, owner of Shannon G’s Flowers; Patricia Kasababian, 8th grade teacher for the Garvey School District in Montebello; Rita Torres, Management Assistant, City of Norwalk Transportation Department; Mickie Yuchno, Director, Alternative Education, Sierra Vista High School/Whittier Adult School.
In addition to the installation of officers, two current board members received The National Medallion Award, which is one of the highest awards a volunteer can receive through Boys & Girls Club of America. This special award is given to volunteers who have rendered astounding devotion to boys and girls through their local Club. This year, the Pacific Region honored 11 recipients, two of which were from the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier. Mr. Paul Schirmer was recognized for his more than 34 years of service and Mr. Rodney Moss was recognized for his 31 years of dedication to our community’s youth.
