Healthy Lifestyles

Through a grant from the Carol M. White Physical Education program, the Boys & Girls Club of Whittier has been able to restructure our programming time to ensure that every member receives 60 minutes a day of physical activity. There are several targeted programs delivered by BGCW that contribute to our youth learning about the importance of healthy lifestyles, including eating a healthy diet, practicing healthy lifestyle choices, and making a lifelong commitment to physical fitness. There have been several opportunities to integrate our sports activities with other local Boys & Girls Clubs, as well as other community organizations.


Healthy Habits

Our Healthy Habits Program motivates Club members to develop healthy attitudes and behaviors about nutrition, which ultimately result in positive lifestyle changes.



The Boys & Girls Club of Whittier has a long-standing relationship with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, which allows us to provide our Club members with a FREE nutritional snack everyday (we also provide free lunch to all members on the days we are open during academic holidays and summer program). Hunger can have a devastating effect on a young person’s ability to do well in school, enjoy sports related activities, and build strong and healthy interpersonal relations, which is why we are always ready to feed our kids if they are in need.


  • Culinary Arts



The Boys & Girls Club of Whittier's sports leagues are designed to build confidence, promote healthy and friendly competition, and encourage positive behavior.  League participation is free to all Club members and focus on fun, fitness, equal participation and skill development. Games are held on weekdays and on the occasional Saturday. Jerseys are provided. Register now at the Club!

Xbox – members have access to several Xbox Kinect systems, which allows them to play a variety of physically challenging games with each other.

Dance Central – through a generous donation from Old Navy, Club members can spend their time moving and grooving to Dance Central.
